Hello
Just a quick one today, since it’s the last bank holiday of the summer (and promising weather as far as I can see) – so I’m planning to take the boys out somewhere for some fun!
Which made me think about something worth mentioning:
When I’m thinking about where to go for a day out, there are some places we love to go time and time again (Harewood House, for example – it’s lovely there, and we’re members).
But other times it’s fun to go somewhere new. And sometimes we could do with some ideas – whether we’re at home or away somewhere.
If you’re thinking “There’s probably a website for that”, you’re right. In fact there are several.
One I’ve used a lot over the years is DayOutWithTheKids. As you might guess it gives you lots of places that can be fun to go to as a whole family. But there are lots of others.
Trip Advisor has a bit where you can type in a place and it’ll show you things to do in that area, too (if you just go to their website you have to click on “Things to do” first).
Often a good way to do it is simply to do a web search for the place you’re going to and “tourist information” or “things to do”. You’ll usually get quite a few options, including the official tourist information website for that area – and often one set up by the town council that can be helpful.
You can do that on any device: PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Or there are various apps for the different websites you could download to your phone or tablet if you find that easier. It might be worth it – you might find some things to do you’d never even thought of!
More help?
Those of you who’ve been reading my newsletter for a while might know we also run something called the Tech Inner Circle – which gives more help with PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Unlike the newsletter, this isn’t just open to everyone and in fact the doors have been closed to new members since September last year. We’re planning to open them again shortly to let new members in, but only for a few weeks, then they’ll slam shut again.
Keep your eyes peeled for more info about what it involves, why you might (or might not) want to join and how long the doors will be open for.
(And for members who are reading this: we’ll shortly be welcoming in some new members!)
Bank Holiday opening
Since it’s the bank holiday, we don’t actually have anyone in the office today. Please feel free to drop us an email and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can, or the girls will be back in the office ready to answer your calls from 8am tomorrow morning.
Yours
