Merry Christmas!

This content is 7 years old. Please, read this page keeping its age in mind. Thank you.

Since it’s Christmas day I hope you’ll forgive me for making this a very short email. Even so, I’ve got two things to say:

First, Merry Christmas to you and yours. I hope you’re having (or have had if you read this later) a great time.

Secondly, if you know anyone who has been given a tablet, smartphone or PC for Christmas and might struggle a bit with it, why not tell them about these emails so they can get them too? They can sign up to get them here. (You can use the same website to leave comments or replies to my emails… and even browse older issues, going right back to 2005 when I first started writing them, so if you want a little light reading after Christmas dinner, there’s plenty there!)

Anyway, have a happy Yule!

Just thought I’d wish you a merry Christmas Tim and everyone at helpful books. Also wanted you to know what a difference a year makes. Back in November 2016 I saw an advertisement for a tablet for beginners and two of your books, since I had just reached the conclusion that I could no longer ignore computers, I took the plunge. Well with your books and emails, so much has changed. I’m shopping online, booking accommodation, finding dates and venues online for concerts and buying the tickets. Streaming and downloading music, videos, sending and receiving emails. In fact I’ve just bought my first smartphone hence the books I’d ordered (which arrived yesterday) and I’m considering buying a laptop in the new year. Given that I will be sixty tomorrow (terrible day for a birthday) I can’t believe how far I’ve come in a year. So thanks for the books and the tech tips, keep them coming. So hope you had a good Christmas, and thanks again. Dave

Hello and thanks for the kind comments. That’s good progress in one year! It’s really good to hear that the books have helped you pick up so much.
And yes, what a rotten day for a birthday – I have a niece with a birthday a few days before Christmas and she thinks that’s not great but Boxing day is even worse!
