A very quick note: the newest version of iOS, version 10, is out now, as of yesterday. (That’s the system that runs iPads and iPhones.) As far as I know, it’s not automatically updating yet, but it is giving you the option to update now if you want to.
iOS 10 looks good, but some people have been having trouble with the update not installing properly, which can leave you in a bit of a pickle, needing to do some fairly techie stuff to take the new version off and put the old version on – otherwise you’re left with an unusable device.
It sounds like most people are having no problems – but you don’t want to be one of the 1% or however many are left unable to use their iPad/iPhone.
My advice at the moment is to wait. I’m sure Apple are running round madly fixing this problem as I type, so it’s probably best to wait until it’s sorted. In a week or so might be better time to let the update run… or simply wait until Apple change it so it happens automatically.
I updated my iOS yesterday, although it took about 20 mins. for the download and install, it all went
Very well.
Windows 10 was disastrous, Had to get help to go back to previous settings.
That’s good news! I think for most people it will be absolutely fine – it’s just for most people I’d recommend waiting a few days to avoid the risk of being one of the unlucky ones.

I have been told , that for less than £90 I can purchase a device that will enable me to watch sport through my laptop .
Can you help please
Peter Bennett
Do you have any more details on the device and/or what sports/what channels it’s to watch?
There are a few things like this about – some are quite genuine but others aren’t necessarily legal to use (though I’m no lawyer and don’t know all the ins and outs). I’ve a sneaking suspicion that some of them only display channels that you could actually watch online anyway, if you knew the website to go to!
So it’ll depend on the specific device and channels you want.

Re waiting to update to IOS 10. Is it now (25/09/2016) safe to upgrade?
Catherine
I haven’t tested it again myself, but Apple say they’ve found what was causing the problem and fixed it – and I haven’t heard anyone saying it’s still doing it, so it should be fixed, yes.
Tim
As facilitator of two I-Pad Groups I advised them all to hold back on this update. Do you think it is safe yet to let this updte run?
Hello
yes, Apple say they’ve found the problem and fixed it, so that particular issue shouldn’t happen anymore!
