Luscious full colour (what I didn’t mention…)

By | March 13, 2018
This content is 6 years old. Please, read this page keeping its age in mind. Thank you.

I mentioned yesterday that the new Smartphone Photography One Step at a Time books are now available on free trial.

One thing I didn’t mention in my email is that these books are printed in luscious full colour.

That way when I’m explaining exactly how things work and I use some example photos, you can see more clearly what I’m talking about.

You can read more about what’s covered and how everything is explained here.

After all, if you don’t know this stuff and you have a smartphone with a camera in it, you’re walking around with a powerful camera in your pocket, that probably cost you quite a bit… and you don’t know how to use it properly.

Anyway, the information about the books is here if you’re interested.

Hi Tim, re the books on Smartphone Photography & other books you make available.
As you are aware, many today, including myself, download reading matter to our devices,
especially if we have limited space for more books!
Would it be possible to make your books etc, available, to download also?
If your readers/members would find it difficult to download, there’s a chance for another book for you
to produce, to help with this! T R

      Hello
yes, it’s something we’ve looked at. At the moment the technology for most downloadable books (eg on a Kindle) isn’t very good at handling books with lots of pictures or with text that doesn’t just “flow” down the page but instead has separate chunks – like where we have a picture of the screen with arrows pointing at different parts of it.
It doesn’t mean we’ve completely written off the idea but I don’t want to either do a bad job of it or to have to give up on books that have the pages “laid out” rather than just being a run of text…so I’m only keen to do it once we’ve come up with a solution to that (or the people who make Kindles and so on have!)
That’s why we haven’t done it so far (though to be fair, this doesn’t apply so much to books like our Sleep book or our privacy book – hmm…)
      Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for your reply, let’s hope a solution can be found!
I know many ‘seniors’ who are now living in smaller accommodations, & have less room to store, all
the books they would like to! I’ve started stacking them, floor to ceiling, it’s ok until you want one
from the bottom of the pile! Check out the piles of books, in the form of ‘Pillars,’ in Barker & Stonehouse’ stores, great idea!
Plus of course, Kindles are handy for taking many books on Holiday! T R

Yes, we’ll let you know if we make any progress on it.
I know what you mean – we have plenty of bookcases at home now but when we first moved into our house they were stacked carefully up the wall between the edge of the one bookcase and the next wall – I used to try to get books from near the bottom by gently tugging… sometimes it worked but once or twice I ended up with an avalanche!

PS I found a picture of the book pillars – here if anyone else is interested – they look great but good luck getting one from the middle…
