Why I didn’t take the afternoon off…

It was a sunny Thursday, back in the summer.  I could have spent the afternoon sat in the garden, drinking tea and waiting for the school day to end so I could take the boys to the beach.

I do like drinking tea and relaxing.  So why didn’t I?

Because I’d had an idea.  And the idea is what became these books.

Still, I have ideas all the time.  Some good ones, some not-so-good (and some downright daft).  I don’t act on all of them – not even all the good ones.

But this one, I did. Why?

Well, these two books aren’t just random good ideas.  They’re about what I think is the most important single purpose of technology like phones, tablets and smartphones

I’ve said it before: it’s not about the technology.  It’s about people.

The thing is, if you know how to use them, devices like this let you be so much closer to the people that matter to you.  I don’t just mean send emails or make video calls now and then to people who live miles away – though that can be great.

It can be great for spending more time “with” people who live nearby, too.  And sharing more with friends and family whether they’re nearby or not.

To me that’s the biggest single advantage of these devices – the way they can help you be closer to the people you care about and keep in touch better with friends and family.

But you probably don’t need me to tell you one of the worst things about these devices: they can be downright maddeningly hair-pullingly infuriating.  When you know it can do something… but you can’t work out how.

Or when there’s something it could do for you that you’d love – but no-one mentioned it could do it and you went years without even trying, when it might have been perfect for you.

Well, to go back to that sunny Thursday, that’s why I didn’t sneakily take the afternoon off to sit in the sun.  Instead I was fired up enough to sit down at my desk, get back to work and start on these books.

Why not have a look at what’s covered and how they might help you, here?  Then if you think they might be interesting, get a copy on free trial.

      Hello
I suppose it’s true – I do often talk about the same things. I find not everyone reads every email and people don’t always take it in first time, so I do cover the same things again.
I try to say things in different ways, so it stays interesting even if you’ve heard something similar before – but I’m not saying I always manage it!
