Why I’m not working on “Survive and Thrive in The Digital Age” any more

I mentioned on Monday that I’m working on a book called Survive and Thrive in The Digital Age.

Well, I’m not working on it any more. Because I’ve finished it! Which means I can send the files off to the printers… which means…

I can announce it’ll be ready to pre-order from next Monday (the 18th) at 11am (UK time).

I was talking on the phone (well, Skype) to Mum and Dad about it, last night. We were talking about how things are different from when I first started writing books about computers, 13 years ago.

Back then, you either had a computer or you didn’t. And if you didn’t want to get involved in technology, you didn’t need to have one. Simple.

Now, technology is all around – you can’t really avoid it. Whether or not you have the latest gadget, there will be all sorts of bits of technology that affect you.

I suppose you could go and live in a cave to try to avoid it all… but if you don’t fancy cave style plumbing, the other option is to have the technology explained properly – so it makes sense.

Then you can decide what suits you and what you can safely ignore… and just make sense of the world better! (At least the technology part of it.)

Anyway, as I say, I’ve finished the book and it’ll be available to pre-order on Monday. I’ll let you know full details on what’s covered, who it’s suitable for and so on then. Watch out for the email at 11am.
