Hello and Merry Christmas in advance!

Since it’s nearly Christmas, I’ve got something slightly different for you this time. A Yuletide quiz.

There’s even a prize – whoever gets the best score wins a signed copy of any of my books or videos – just choose whichever you’d like.

But really, it’s meant to be a bit of fun – the questions are all to do with computers in some way or other but I’ve tried to pick out some lesser known facts that I think are interesting. I don’t expect anyone will know all the answers (though you never know). It’s more the kind of quiz where you have to make educated guesses!

In fact, if you’ve been reading the last few newsletters I’ve written, you’ll have a head start on question 3!

But first, something less fun:

Another scam you should watch out for
I’m a big fan of some of the free software you can download on the internet. And most of it is good quality, genuine stuff.

But a few conmen do take advantage by running adverts saying things like “Before you download, scan your computer with…”. They get these adverts onto the download pages – and people get taken in. But it’s nothing to do with the program you’re actually trying to get.

So if you’re downloading some software and you see a button saying something like “Before you download, click here”, don’t – it’s probably some scam!

Right, back to the fun stuff
Here’s the link to the quiz:

If you don’t know the answer to a question you can just guess. But don’t forget to include your email address so we’ll know it’s you if you win!

I’ll reveal the answers (and the stories behind them) in the next newsletter and we’ll contact the winner once we’ve checked everyone’s entry!

Have a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year
